A new decree facilitates the collection of rent arrears for 2024 and earlier relating to premises leased from the Department of Industry and the Free Port & Zone Directorate. The aim is to ease cash flow for businesses while accelerating public collections.
Who is eligible?
- Lessees with unpaid rents relating to periods up to 31 Dec 2024 from the Department of Industry or the Free Port.
- Cases already concluded by a final court ruling on the same receivable are excluded.
Application & deadline
- Apply with the prescribed form to the relevant Department/Directorate.
- Final deadline: 30 December 2025 (close of business).
Payment options & relief
- Lump-sum: Pay the principal in full on the application date and 90% of accrued interest/penalties is waived.
- Instalments: Pay 20% upfront on application; the remaining principal is paid in 6 equal monthly instalments (by the 5th of each month). In this case, 75% of interest/penalties is waived.
- Missing a due instalment invalidates the arrangement.
